Alex says about this print: These are the handsome river cormorants I cycle past along the New Cut in Bristol on my way to the print studio. I didn't notice them for a long time (I don't know that many folks do as they're quite well camouflaged) until I thought I saw an umbrella stuck up one of the trees, and then realised it was a Cormorant drying out its wings :) Its a familiar comfort to spot them and count them as I pass now - 11 is highest count in one sitting / perching - along Cumberland Road, and going over Gaol Ferry Bridge. These are a springtime trio, drying off and admiring the blossom. I enjoyed working out their dynamic shapes for this print, and getting a good dark colour overlay from the brown and blue ink :)

Alex and Georgina design and make their own products (greetings cards, books, artwork, and other printed ephemera) in Bristol, working at their home studio and printing at Spike Print Studio. They screenprint as ethically as they can using recycled card and paper, Earth Positive clothing blanks and water based inks, along with re-using leftovers, using biodegradable packaging where possible and being naturally opposed to waste!
They like to tell stories, and know that things have more authenticity if there’s research and thought behind them so there’s invariably a narrative woven into what they produce. And they love to be outdoors, so the natural world is their biggest source of inspiration.
