This original limited edition screen print depicts a black headed gull standing on a wooden post with a tree backdrop behind. The gull is drawn and painted in detail using drafting film in eight colours by Fiona Hamilton, so there's a lot of detail and colour in the image. The style has a very slight manga feel to it, though not intentional. This is from the realisitic hand pained background, and the drawing style Fiona has utilised with the block colours and the line work.

This print is from a series of sea birds. Each layer of this print has been drawn or painted by hand in a completely analogue process. The computer has only been used to print out the reference photograph!

Fiona Hamilton is a printmaker based in Bristol. Interested in process she uses a combination of mediums, both traditional and contemporary, to produce unique imagery, often as one off pieces or in very small runs. Fiona has a degree in Graphic Fine Art from Canterbury, Kent and MA printmaking from UWE Bristol.
